India’s climate crisis is no longer a distant threat. It is unfolding now – in the form of erratic rainfall, disappearing coastlines, drying rivers and worsening air quality. But alongside this sobering reality are stories of resilience, innovation and collective action.
For the past six years, Scroll and DW’s video series EcoIndia has chronicled both: the challenges brought on by a changing climate, and the efforts – often local, often quiet – that aim to counter it. Over nearly 300 weekly episodes, the series has travelled extensively to capture the determination of communities across the country.
Recent stories include women farmers in Marathwada who are adapting to uncertainty with indigenous cropping techniques, and a Kerala constituency that overcame a water crisis through citizen-led action. One episode explores whether Delhi’s Water ATMs can offer a viable solution, while another asks what we lose when coastal ecosystems go unmapped and unprotected.
